He does do live appearances relatively often, I just think it's a bit more rare to see him do a US tour type thing.

Williams does at least one concert every summer at the Hollywood Bowl. This year, he conducted the 4th of July concerts.

He also still conducts at least a couple Boston Pops concerts every year and holds the title of "Laureate Conductor" there.
