You want to hear testament to how great this game really is? My third-party memory card has been randomly corrupting data lately... my MGS2, ICO, and Jak & Daxter files (among others) were all deleted. I had progressed about 64% through J&D.
My response? I picked J&D up from the beginning, eagerly, willingly... and I got back up to 50% in a single night without once feeling cheated or bored. The game is infinitely replayable and definitely more than the sum of its parts.
In my opinion (and I'm a huge Mario64 fan), Rayman 2 (next to J&D) seems a little less 'solid' as far as collision detection and enemy interaction. And the goals in J&D immerse you in the environment more, IMO.
And Klonoa... well, it's a 2-D platformer and one of the best around. Wouldn't do it justice to try and compare it to a 3-D adventure title.
Cheers,
Joseph
