I remember reading several months ago (I think on dvdjournal.com) that Criterion would be releasing the 1952 Importance of Being Earnest directed by Anthony Asquith. Yet I've been to the Criterion site and seen no mention. Does anybody else remember hearing about this or have any other information?

I don't know if Criterion is aware of the 2002 version of The Importance of Being Earnest with Reese Witherspoon and Judi Dench due this year but it might be a good idea to release it around the same time as sort of a cross tie in.

This thread came in handy as I was thinking of buying the R2-UK DVD which has a documentary on the film. I guess I'll wait and see what Criterion does with this film now.

It would also be a good tie in with all the Ernest movies that Disney is going to release on September 3. ;)
