Before I break down and buy the 8-part Irma Vap remake from YouTube--is there any chance we'll see the series on UHD/bluray any time soon?
Not likely. Most of the HBO Max series have been digital and *maybe* DVD, but no Blu-ray or UHD. The only exceptions are the HBO proper series Westworld and House of the Dragon.

Well, not only those. The DC series -- Titans, Doom Patrol, Peacemaker, Harley Quinn -- have gotten Blu-rays.

And even...

even if it appears to be an MOD.

I have a streaming UHD Atmos quality concern with HBO Max - just noticed yesterday that the sound and image stutters, like the effect old cable used to create when removing a few frames per second to condense a longer video to shorten a film to fit a shorter time slot. But it is a bit different - when music or voice is sustained, it sound like glottal stops are inserted.

This may have been ongoing awhile , I’ve only watched 2 Atmos movies so far on HBO and it doesn’t affect standard HD. But I only noticed it yesterday when watching Fantastic Beasts Secrets of Dumbledore, so it might be new. I also checked Dune and it has the same problem.

I checked other streaming services and my Roku network connection - all good (Roku reports 87 Mbps, Amazon Prime streams 4k Atmos with no prob). So it is just HBO. And BTW makes the movies on HBO unwatchable. I already got the 3d Dune blu ray and now probably will buy the Uhd blu ray to finish Dumbledore. But what’s wrong with HBO?

Anyone else noticing the same problem? Is it a compression issue? Puzzled.

I watched the last Dumbledore film on HBO Max with no playback issues. I was using a 1st Gen Apple TV 4K connected to a Denon X3300W receiver. I did not try it with my Roku Ultra, which is connected to the same AVR.

The combined HBOMAX / Discovery streaming service launch is moving up from Summer 2023 to Spring 2023. No actual date or name of the combined service mentioned yet.

It might be unfair to speculate before the new higher price is announced. But it seems having separate subscriptions for HBO Max and Discovery, then also offering a bundle for both, would keep subscribers happy.

I have no interest in Discovery. So why would I want to pay more? And I really don’t even want the hassle of sorting through the Discovery programs. Again, it might be too early to speculate, but just my opinion so far.

HBO Max on the Apple TV has just started doing a pop-up thing at the very beginning of the end credits of movies. I know it's a long shot, but is there any way to turn that off?

I just click on the back button on the AppletV remote and it disappears. I haven't found any other way to turn it off.

Thanks, I figured as much. The last feature I watched it literally popped up on the fadeout of the last scene before the "The End." Very annoying.

In the wake of a series of cancellations for previously renewed series, HBO Max has announced that more HBO originals are coming off of the service, including "Westworld" and "The Nevers".

Yet, somehow, our subscription price doesn't come down...

I got email notice today that our AT&T cellular plan will no longer include HBO MAX as part of the plan, but we’ll still receive it through the U-Verse plan that includes HBO. I guess this is due to the recent change of ownership sale to Warner/Discovery. But I’m not sure I’d be able to justify paying additional for the service, or it would at least call for reevaluation vis-a-vis the other services. The churn of film titles and limited series, documentaries and such is frustratingly difficult to keep up with; titles on the watchlist drop off suddenly and it would be helpful if the service providers would put an end date somewhere on the graphics so it might avoid missing something worthwhile,
