Holy Cow! Can this be true. Tonight I bought 3 previously viewed rental movies at The Movie Gallery in Sarasota, Florida. They were Underworld, League of Extradordinary Gentleman, and the 2nd Harry Potter movie. Both of the former 2 movies appear to be DVD-Rs. If so, I am outraged. I thought I was buying legitimate studio released movies. Are the rental chains now being given permission to burn theor own discs? I have not read about this. Is this common knowledge? I feel that I've been had. Any insights?

Most likely someone took the originals and left the DVD-R's there. W/o opening the case its rather easy for a Blockbuster etc to not check the discs since the part where they scan in is usually on the outside of the case.

I can't imagine any business putting DVD-R's in there.
