Component AVR or TV? (1 Viewer)

What's the difference between using my AVR's component video out for my DVD and using the DVD player's component out directly to the TV? Currently I have it going directly from player to TV. If this has already been discussed somewhere on this forum, please direct me. I searched but couldn't really find the answer.

If you have multiple sources, the AVR allows you to switch between them for convenience. If your receiver has any kind of "on-screen menus" generated, you'll get them when wired through the AVR. Going straight to the TV is a cleaner signal path.
