If they included a 4th disc with a further 20 shorts, then this would be 80 shorts for 80 years.

If I had my way, these last 20 shorts would be:
1. Porky's Hare Hunt
2. Presto Change-o
3. Hare-um Scare-um
4. Elmer's Pet Rabbit
5. Hiawatha's Rabbit Hunt
6. All This and Rabbit Stew
7. Crazy Cruise
8. Fresh Hare
9. Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips
10. Herr Meets Hare
11. The Unruly Hare
12. Hare Trigger
13. A Feather in His Hare
14. A-Lad-In His Lamp
15. Which is Witch?
16. Pre-Hysterical Hare
17. Horse Hare
18. Wet Hare
19. Hare-Breadth Hurry
20. Dumb Patrol

The biggest issue with all these new Looney Tunes sets

That is the absolute biggest issue with how all these post-Golden Collection sets are programmed. They have shorts not on the Golden Collections, but they have some that are, but the Golden Collections have shorts that are not on Blu-Ray so you have to still hold onto those.

If we had just one set of Blu-Ray's that made the Golden Collections and other DVD's totally obsolete, that would be better than the stupid Funko pop.

Perhaps the rarest Bugs Bunny appearance in the 1940's is a cameo by Bugs in a George Pal Puppetoon, "Jasper Goes Hunting" which was released by Paramount. I won't post a link because some may be offended but its on the internet for those who look for it. It a very brief appearance. Bugs is a cartoon not a Puppetoon and is voiced by Mel Blanc.

I am curious to see what this will cost to own digital.

You know, if Warner had put a little more effort into this set by including a 3D copy of Lumber-Jack Rabbit they would have opened the door to a lot more interested buyers who would otherwise still be on the fence about purchasing this.

Generally a good list. In particular, the Frank Tashlin directed Unruly Hare is one of my favorites that never made the Golden Collections.

That's one of my favorites too. It's so fast and furious - so Tashlin - and Bugs is so merciless to Elmer! Tashlin's cartoons have such energy. Unruly reminds me of Nasty Quacks in that regard. I wish he had directed more; he could have been something of a Tex Avery successor.

"Is you is, or is you ain't my baby ?" :rolling-smiley:

It says $40 in the press release. I think I might also get this from iTunes.

I missed that inclusion. Thank you. Yeah, a much more reasonable price. Think I will be buying these digitally then

I sat here this evening, totally enjoying my viewing of Warner Archive's Secret Origins of Saturday Morning Cartoons.

I always enjoy listening to George Feltenstein, and here we get to actually see him as he provides some interesting history behind the origins of Hanna-Barbera. Later in the video, he talks briefly about the upcoming Flintstones boxed set, and from the clip shown, it should look pretty incredible (the clip certainly does). I am excited about that set and look forward to purchasing it (although I own all the episodes already on DVD).

And though I have been pretty critical on my thoughts about the Bugs Bunny set, I am still looking forward to obtaining it either on disc or digital. I think some of us die-hard collectors tend to become overly concerned about added trinkets to these boxed sets that ultimately drive up the price of purchase. At the same time, it's also apparent that there will be an appealing factor for others once it arrives on store shelves.

I am just grateful that we are getting releases like BUGS, TEX AVERY, and THE FLINTSTONES on Blu-ray and that the studio is putting considerable effort into remastering them.

I realize there are people out there who really like these "box-o-junk" releases but I truly wish studios would do a simultaneous release of one with the junk and one without to see just which is *really* the one people want. I'd likely make this a day-of-release purchase if I could get the discs without all the junk.

Yes, I'm sure many of the sales for the Friday the 13th box set are people who want Friday the 13th part 3 in 3D. If Paramount can spend the time and money to have a 95 minute film restored in 3D, Warner Brothers should be able to do the same for a 7 minute short.

Too bad it wasn't years ago when HTF had contacts at the studios so you talk to them about it.

I looked up what's been previously released on the Golden Collection DVDs, Super Stars DVDs, and Platinum Collection BRs. Here's what I found (it's possible I missed a cople due to spelling differences between this list and what's on the previous sets as listed on wikipedia):

Bolded entries are prior BR releases with the set indicated (some also received DVD releases and have the set(s) indicated).

Bolded RED entries are prior DVD releases with the set indicated

On the Super Stars Bugs DVD set, 10 shorts were cropped to WS - this new BR has 5 of them, hopefully in proper 4:3.

Fantastic list. But shouldn't Super Rabbit be in RED highlight?

Yes, I'm sure many of the sales for the Friday the 13th box set are people who want Friday the 13th part 3 in 3D. If Paramount can spend the time and money to have a 95 minute film restored in 3D, Warner Brothers should be able to do the same for a 7 minute short.

Too bad it wasn't years ago when HTF had contacts at the studios so you talk to them about it.
And Warner would seem more likely to do so, as they were about the last studio still supporting domestic 3D blu-ray as recently as last year's Lego Movie 2, Shazam!, and Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Kind of perplexing that there was apparently no thought to include a 3D option in the Bugs set.

I certainly would have bought this set on Blu-ray despite my reservations about the collectible if that short was in 3-D.

I would also suspect the same for a lot of 3D enthusiasts who would spend the extra money just for that short.

I know George at Warner reads these threads. I doubt anything can be done at this point as it seems the set is probably already in production and making certain the 3D is properly aligned would take considerable extra time, I would imagine. However, if there's still time and Warner wants to rethink this...

George Feltenstein is the man!

Back in the LaserDisc days, when I used to devour the LaserDisc Newsletter cover to cover each month, I read that the newly restored director's cut version of The Fearless Vampire Killers was due to be released on LaserDisc. So I wrote a letter to Mr. Feltenstein and asked if it were at all possible to include the animated cartoon opening that was tacked on to the US version as a bonus.

I never received a reply, and frankly I never expected one. But you can imagine my delight when the LaserDisc arrived one day and not only was the bonus cartoon opening included as a bonus, but there was a trailer and a featurette about Sharon Tate included as well! Not to mention that it was packaged in a gorgeous gatefold jacket with Frank Frazetta poster art!

Now, I have no idea if that letter I wrote made any difference at all. Perhaps these extras would have been included anyway. But I always like to think that my writing that letter may have been used by Mr. Feltenstein to tip the scales in favor of having those bonus materials included.

So Never Say Never. I'll bet there still a chance that one way or another, someday, sooner hopefully than later, we WILL see Lumber Jack - Rabbit on Blu-ray 3D! :3dglasses:
