I can't imagine anyone screwing up a report about something of that magnitude.
Then again, someone today hacked the AP's twitter account and created a false report that two bombs went off at the White House and injured the President. Again, this was a lie. Apparently the same hacker also tried to infiltrate the AP's wire service to send out false reports. So, who knows?
NBC (the broadcast news operation, as opposed to MSNBC) had terrific coverage. Pete Williams is the dedicated justice corespondent for NBC, and he really leveraged his contacts in the FBI to great benefit. In the anchor chair, Brian Williams also did a very good job of keeping viewers in the loop as to what information had confirmation and what information was flimsy.
On CBS, John Miller had some top-notch background reporting.
I wasn't impressed by any of the big three cable news channels.
