I have a Toshiba 65H82 which is one of the older HD ready rear projection sets. The only video inputs are the usual RCA, S-Video etc and component inputs for HD. Is there anyway to connect a Blu Ray player to this TV?

You should be able to connect with component cables, but you'll only get 1080i, instead of 1080p, I'm pretty sure.

Connect component.

You'll still get 1080p out of your Blu Ray discs, but you won't be able to upconvert SD discs to 1080p.

Ive been under the impression for a long time that component won't give you 1080p. You pretty sure about that?

Thanks guys, I guess I was only looking at the Sony player, which did not have component out, today I saw the Samsung with the component out so I think I will give it a shot. Thanks again.

Your impression was correct, not sure what I was thinking at the time.

Component will provide 1080i which the set will then upscale to 1080p.
