New CineHome Full HD HT2050A Projector from BenQ

BenQ has today announced the availability of its new HT2050A home entertainment projector, which replaces its HT2050 award-winning predecessor. Targeted at movie-watchers and gamers in small to medium-sized media rooms, the $749 HT2050A includes a 6X speed RGBRGB color wheel that achieves more than 96% of Rec. 709 accuracy, which, according to the company, delivers colors 'close to what the director intended'.

The PJ is 3D-capable includes a W CinemaMaster Audio+ speaker with custom-tuned modes for BenQ calls 'immersive, dramatically deeper audio'. With a low 16.67ms input lag and special Game Mode, the company claims the HT2050A is a great choice for 'epic, heart-pounding gaming'. The unit has two HDMI ports (HDMI and HDMI/MHL), so it can support Google Chromecast, Roku and Amazon FireTV, and MHL port enables streaming from smartphones, tablets and other portable consumer electronics devices.

The emphasis here is on 'hassle-free installation and setup'. A short throw lens enables a 100" diagonal screen size with only an eight-foot throw, and there is vertical lens shift, and horizontal and vertical keystone correction, to eliminate trapezoid effects when projecting from a corner or side table. A three-year warranty is also included.

"Just because a space is small doesn't mean viewers should lose any part of the cinematic experience," said Jeffrey Hsieh, business manager at BenQ America Corp. "The BenQ CineHome HT2050A was engineered to provide a big-screen experience in small to medium media spaces for movie enthusiasts. From a captivating picture, to immersive audio, video game modes and installation flexibility, the HT2050A is a great choice for any home theater or entertainment room."

The HT2050A is now available from BenQ Direct, Amazon and B&H Photo, and soon from Best Buy, Projector People and Fry's. Full specs are below:

I purchased a HT2050 (not "A") just a few weeks ago at about the same price point. Doh! Still, it doesn't look like I'm missing much functionality if I'm reading the specs correctly. The "A" additions are: Horizontal keystone correction, and MHL HDMI. Personally, I don't have a need for either feature. Did I miss anything else?
