If so, how is it? Is it worth buyin just to hear the Rudy soundtrack (I have Rudy fever today, what a great movie!)
If it's good, I'm buying an SACD player!
Also, are there any good tchaikovsky recordings on sacd or dvd-a with pieces like 1812, cappricio, romeo and juliet, and marche slave?
    thanks!

I have the Jerry Goldsmith SACD, and sonically it is superb, perhaps the best sounding SACD out there. While I personally prefer the original soundtracks for their performances, the CD is a good representation of what Goldsmith performs in concert.
There is a Telarc Tchaikovsky SACD with the 1812 Overture, Cappriccio Italiano, March Salve, and several other pieces. The sonics are excellent, albeit not quite as good as the Goldsmith disc, and the performances are solid.
There are a lot of great Classical SACDs out, and the purchase of a player is highly recommended.

I got the Telarc Tchaikovsky disc last week and was surprisingly disappointed with it. It sounded nice, but that's it, nothing special. I thought it sounded like a very good cd. While on the same day, Earth, Wind and Fire: Gratitude showed up. Now that one sounded better than a cd.
Also, if you don't have a really good sub, you may not get any 'megablasts' out of the 1812. This is the only piece of software that caused my sub to go into some kind of protection mode. I had to turn the volume *down* just to hear it bottoming out. [IMG]
