I have no intention of this being a discussion of the merits or contents, only the technical aspects of the DVD.

There is a new DVD called Euphoria from Wicked which is 16x9 enhanced widescreen and even has a DTS soundtrack. It is a 2 disk set with the movie on the first disk and documentary, deleted scenes and interviews on the second disk.

I think this is one of the first in this genre.

That's pretty wild, although (IMO) I'm a bit apprehensive about any possible benefits of DTS on a title like this.
Interestingly, the adult entertainment industry is known to embrace new technology rapidly, so it surprises me that they haven't tried this sooner. Although, I do remember seeing early titles featuring the multi-angle feature which would make more sense in this application then say.....DTS.
Commentaries and docs would probably be entertaining as well...I must admit, I'm curious about what the documentary might reveal.

Unfortunately, I see very little impact from this on family releases.
Now let's see how many more view this without commenting.

I check out one with the angle deal and it was neat but not required.

As for it being DTS, thats kind of amusing. And like you said I might just get it to see what sort of bloopers/deleted scenes, and the documentary might be interesting.

I'm wondering how one would explain that purchase with the SO: "So I was...um...checking the technical aspects of the DVD format, yeah. Seriously! Some guy on HTF told me about it!"
I'm amazed that an adult film would even be filmed in 5.1 sound. The effects must be...interesting. And let's not forget the commentary. I for one would be interested, or at least amused, to see how it goes. At least this means that even the porn industry can see the advantage of the digital format. Why not use it to their benefit?

I would have to think, with all the stuff out there, it must be hard to make your product stand out from others. Interesting way to do it. OH, and I can see all the DTS guys walking into the local adult shop and saying, "Too bad, no DTS, no buy/rent" for all those other titles.

oh, the many things one could say about the LFE and 5.1 surround of an adult film that would be quite funny.

but I digress.

I've noticed in the few adult films that I've sampled that they take extensive use of the DVD format more so than a lot of other films. The multi-angle thing was cool, and used since '98 or so from what I have seen. I can't say I'd go out of my way to find one though, neat idea but eh, to much of PITA. on my first DVD player every time you hit one of those portions the player would stutter a bit. Of course that was a Toshiba A300 I bought in '96. The later players have handled it without problems. They also just cram the disk full of extras, while the value of the extras is up to the person using them.

Though still, the idea of needing an LFE on an adult film makes me laugh. Oh the possibilities.

It's about time. I just hope that all those P&S adult classics get released in their OAR. I mean, on Crotch Capers 3 during the pool scene, you totally loose some important information that explains the whole pizza delivery scene later on.
And the so-called special edition with the open-matte transfer was even worse! During Biff Beaverman's famous washing-machine repair man scene you can clearly see one of the crew off in the corner eating some of the pizza seen earlier!

Bonus points to those who spot the Southpark reference.

I'll admit to buying a few of the DTS porn titles; the sound is quite disappointing. The rears and LFE are used just for the music, nothing more. Personally I'd love to have a classic 70's porno movie with an isolated music-only track!

Actually, there is a movie by Wicked called "Dream Quest" I saw when I got Video On Demand for free, it was widescreen. BTW, it actually has a plot... kinda neat!

Too bad the DVD for it is not 16:9 enhanced... hehe.

And yeah, I heard about Euphoria... quite the collection of extras, but I can't justify spending $45+shipping (Canadian) on it.
