amplification in a 5.1 system (1 Viewer)

First of, here is my 1st HT setup: Outlaw 1050, Atlantic Tech 250.1 (no sub),SV 20-39CS sub. My question: I've found two amps at a decent price(both are 2 channel). I'll use one for my sub. If I put the other on my fronts in two channel mode I'll have more power to my fronts (that's good, right?) and when i switch to 5.1 mode (movies) they will play louder and I'll have to adjust them down, correct?

If these questions are too basic, then could someone give me a website that explains basic concepts of audio electronics. Thanks in advance.

Hello Rock,
If you put the two amps in front you could have more power
(Don't know because no Specs..), but the only reason for more power is to get head room. So the speaker give a better sound at the same volume..
