Yes, everyone will bring up how the suit by the DOJ against Apple does X,Y,Z.. but the real winner here seems to be Amazon, which greeted words from 3 major publishers that the cabal to set prices was over - and that Amazon would be able to return them to a wholesale pricing system.. what does that mean for Kindle users? Most likely an immediate drop in pricing and some competition for who can drive the best bargain.

This is also good for Apple book readers, as it means there will be more competition over the digital book market, lower prices and real competition for your $$

Amazon did a victory dance of sorts today after the Justice Department filed its e-book pricing antitrust case against Apple and five book publishers — three of whom (Hachette, HarperCollins and Simon & Schuster) have agreed to a proposed settlement. The e-retailer called it “a big win for Kindle owners” adding that it looks forward “to being allowed to lower prices on more Kindle books.”
