all 4 major network hd channels are down on direct tv, since monday, i called them and they said the whole country is out but I cant imagine that

Right. May be true where you live, but it's definitely not true where I live. Cable is my neck of the woods is an over priced, fuzzy joke.

Back to the original topic. Did you check on some of the DBS specific forums, such as DBS Talk or DBS Forums?

Definitely true. Once FIOS is available in my area I'm leaving Comcast before they know it.
