A minor question about The Entity (1 Viewer)

I just watched this on the Fox Movie Channel for the first time in many years & I have a minor question...in the scene where the "parapsychologists" ask "IT" to show itself, was the amorphous image that shows up supposed to look like anything? Or was it meant to be what it appeared as..namely a vague indistinct blob of light.

It is supposed to sort of resemble a man. At least as I recall from the book.
