Play Misty for Me, which I believe is Mr. Eastwood's premiere outing as director, comes to Blu-ray via
Kino, and to my eyes, it's an okay presentation, and like Beguiled is billed as a new 2k transfer, which it may well be.

I'm just not seeing the quality.

A wonderful film, it appears to be derived from a dupe, and like Beguiled has a similar vertical hop, less than stellar resolution, and a loss of shadow detail.

Other than that, it's a terrific film, which beautifully stands the test of time.

Image - 3.5

Audio - 5

Pass / Fail - Pass

Upgrade from DVD - Possibly

I already have the 2014 UK BD, but bought this for the bonus material. It's one of my favorite Eastwood movies.

Since both Play Misty For Me and The Beguiled have been previously released on blu ray, I won't have to upgrade from DVD. The extras aren't enough for me to double dip.

This 2K (if that's what ti is ) looks extremely dark with possible black crush. I saw it first week opening - it was one of those lovely smoothly graded Tech IB prints Universal distributed that had plenty of shadow detail This is just too dark.
