Hi,

Lookin at buying a new DVD player, entry level. I've seen a few with a 6 channel (5.1)output on the rear panel (6 RCA's) in addition to the ususal digital Coax and Optical. These DVD players are NOT DVD Audio players. My HK 310 receiver has a seperate 6 channel input. What would be the advantage to this setup if its not an actual DVD audio player? How would this be better than just using the one Caox for my 5.1 discs? Why have both and how can I use it? Also, what kind of cables would I use? Simple RCA style?

Thanks,

Confused.

Receivers and Pre-Amps do not have to have DD and DTS decoders or digital inputs, if they have this type of input and some pro-logic recievers were labled as DD ready, this is the way to get DD and DTS on the affore mentioned types of equipment.

And yes, RCA line level shielded audio cables are what you want to use them.
