Thanks for the explanation. So maybe she is not mad at Jack and other people trying to keep her away from him.

You didn't mention Kate Morgan. Why she is so pissed at Jack?

I don't believe Kate is pissed at Jack (at least not directly). She is upset because she has lost her job because her husband leaked U.S. secrets. Even though she was cleared of being involved, it doesn't say much about her abilities if she didn't realize her husband was doing what he was doing (at least not to her bosses). As far as she is concerned, Jack is just another wanted terrorist. The fact that, from an official standpoint, he betrayed his country (although we, as viewers know that isn't true), she may be transferring some of the feelings she has for her husband to Jack.

my own speculation is that
by a few episodes, Kate will be working with Jack. And since Chloe is in the business of disseminating information, and Kate's husband leaked secrets, the husband and Chloe may meet at some point).

They're assuming that she would be upset by being reminded of Jack and, by extension, her torture by the Chinese and mental breakdown.
Or he's worried that his wife will run off with Jack.

Or he's a mole and he's worried that Jack will figure it out.

In addition to what David said, Kate is a new character for this season so there's no history between the two.
Oh ok. I thought she was an old character the way they played her.

So great to be back in conversation about 24.

Been reading your comments with lots of enthusiasm as
I finally got to watch the 2-hour premier this morning.

Wow. So great to have that countdown clock and music back.

Who would ever have thought this show would be revived. Not
very pleased to learn ratings were not as exceptional as hoped.
Still hope it keeps viewers coming back so we can look forward
to more seasons ahead.

As far as this return is concerned...

I really enjoyed the 2-hour premier. Yes, one needs to suspend
all belief that these events can happen (even in real time), but that
is what popcorn entertainment is all about and I believe this is going
to be a fun ride.

The storyline, thus far, is very interesting. Seems to be paced rather
well at the moment. Should be pretty decent pacing for the entire
season now that it has been knocked down to half its normal episodes.

....and yes, anyone can jump into this show without any prior knowledge
of 24. Viewers were already treated to bits of information about Jack's
past throughout the 2-hour premier. They made sure nobody was left
in the dark.

It's just so cool to be sitting here watching this show again. I love it's
exceptional production values, style of using split screens, and presenting
us with characters you never know which side of the fence they are on
until they backstab someone....

....or in this case, ear stab.

So do we know the woman at the end of episode 2 from before?

I have to say I'm watching this mainly because I know it has 12 episodes. They should do this to all series. 24 Episodes is way too much for some shows.

Episode 2 had more unwanted laughing moments. Data erasing itself has 3d animation and not only that, it has to do the animation for each file!
Also the car coming to rescue jack right in front of that hole that jack himself didn't know he was going to use was funny!

No doubt.

I also liked that despite the underground CIA facility being in "Level 5 Lockdown", after Jack escaped through the hole in the roof and the ladder was removed, the girl was able to run back through the hallway and make her way up to ground level and get OUTSIDE in time to fire off a couple of shots at the van as it drove away.

Of course, the chain link fence IS a pretty formidable barrier - maybe it's the presence of the fence with barbed wire on top that elevates the lockdown from a meager "Level 3" to the mac-daddy "Level 5".

No. Never say never but I'd be surprised if any other old characters return since they'll want to make sure that everything is accessible to the widest possible audience and because they have half the amount of shows as usual.

24 Noob reporting back here. Not feeling it after Episode 1, seems like a rehash of so much we have seen before:- "bad" guy purposefully getting themselves caught (Thor, Bond just to name 2 recent ones)- Chloe seems like a total rip from The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo- Bass drops all over the place for dramatic tension- The eye rolling forgetful president and the bad guy tied to the beautiful presidents daughter linesWill stick with it but I guess I was expecting something a bit more.... original...

Rehash? What isn't. It's hard for anything to be original anymore.

I think the only thing that made 24 groundbreaking in the first place was
its effort to stick to the clock and present events in "real time," which is
not going to be the case for the entire season since the show is cut back
to 13 episodes.

This show is highly over the top in every respect, Sam. However, the plot
does manage to change on a dime. You never know who is going to backstab
who and will go from good-guy to villain.

As for Chloe....

First time we have ever seen her like this. She was never this "gothic," and
quite frankly, I don't like her new appearance since leaving CTU.

Hang in there. I think you will be well entertained.

indeed very exciting to get bauer back... though times have changed quite a bit.i got quite the chuckle tho... at the not to subtle political topics (drones) brought up :) somn that is in a lot of previous 24 seasons. aaanyways...i still love season1. nothing quite as personal as wife&daughter. the stakes kept going up.

It was very original when it first started, but that's part of the problem. 24 paved the way for a lot of what you describe here, but now it is all rehash. 24's been rehashing itself since like the 4th season.

I'm sure it's deliberate but I like that Kate is a lot like Jack in that she'll do crazy stuff to save the day. Disobeying a direct superior or kidnapping & blackmailing info out of a suspect is classic Jack.

Jack shooting protestors to create a stampede was definitely a highlight.
