After having months of issues with wireless for my DirecTV, I would like to connect to the Internet via Ethernet. I have an HR44 receiver and currently have a cord connected to the router, but for some reason the receiver isn't recognizing it. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Has anyone had issues with the Direct TV equipment wreaking havoc on the network in their home? i.e. causing other devices to lose connectivity, or including Direct TV itself? Perhaps it is causing an IP conflict? I am in desperate need of help!
