    Greetings all,

In sum, I haven't been on a vacation in about three years. I'm 21 years old, I'm a college student, and over the summer I work 60-70 hours a week. I've been feeling down for the past nine months or so, and I can use a place to get away for a week.

Any ideas on a fun, yet relaxing vacation spot for me to hit up? Thanks

I could go fairly high, let's say no more than $1,000 though

EDIT: Wouldn't mind seeing it well below that though :)

What are your interests? If you like the outdoors and hiking, the Smokey Mountains is within a day's drive of CT and offers a lot.

    Scott,

I am an outdoors fan, and a day trip there or weekend there might be nice, thanks for the input.

I am really looking to get away for a solid week though. I've been outside of the country before, but I've never been off the East Coast of the US. I'm a huge baseball fan and I'm also (suprise suprise) a HUGE movie buff. Museams can be nice as well, sometimes. Ideally, I'd like to go somewhere where I'd be able to enjoy a quiet day somewhere one day, and another day be able to do something more commercial.

Thanks for the help so far.

Well, seeing you've never been off the East Coast, why not come to the Northwest? Summer weather is pretty mild in comparison to the majority of the country and there's lots to do if you're into the outdoors. If you're more of a city person, visit Portland or Seattle. The Seattle Hostel is supposed to be very nice. Not sure of your options in Portland for inexpensive lodging, but the McMenamin's Brew Pub chain has some locations with rooms. Very cool places.

Vancouver B.C. is also very nice. Bigger city but the same kind of weather. For inexpensive lodging I've heard the YMCA is good.

Seattle may not be a bad idea, I'd love to check out the stadium where the Mariners play, and the area seems nice as well. Definately an option, thanks!

I'd just bring a couple of buddies to the beach. Atlantic City seems pretty close to you.
