I just found this thread, in which a guy claims that rotating a shadow mask tube 90 or 180 degrees can cause serious damage.
Anyone know if there's any truth to this? I just had my TV delivered and they flipped it 90 degrees to take it out of the box. I haven't used it yet, as I have to take...
I noticed on the Yamaha page that they list the 3200 having DTS 96/24/ DTS-ES Discrete 6.1, but the 220 does not. On one of their product comparison charts, however, the 2200 is listed as having DTS-ES Discrete 6.1 (no mention of 96/24).
Anyone know the full story here?

Just found this thread and was wondering, could this type of thing cause any damage to a sub?
I accidentally cranked my Yamaha RX-V2200 (to about -5db volume) the other day for a split second and just want to be sure that everything is ok while my speakers and sub are still under warranty...
I just got some of these plugs and am a little confused on installation. Are you saying that the wire should actually go over the part that the top screws onto? Or the flat part just above it?
If I put the wire over where the top actually screws on, how would I screw the top back on?
Maybe...
Interesting. I seem to get it on pretty much all my DirecTV channels when watching in DPL/II. Would that imply that none of these channels are DPL encoded?

If I stand within a couple feet of my main B&W 601 or rear B&W 602 speakers, the sound coming from the tweeters has a very "wavy" quality to it. It's similar to the sound you get from an analog tape when it starts to get warped.
I happened to recently get a Yamaha RX-V2200 to replace my...
I have a DirecTV w/ Tivo hooked up to my Yamaha RX-V2200 via the optical and analog cables. If I flip the Yamaha to certain (not all) other inputs which are not on or do not exist and turn the volume way up, I can hear the audio from DirecTV.
Any idea why this is happening?
Thanks,
Bryan
I'd like to use banana plugs on my B&W 602/601/CC6 speakers. I've noticed that the little plastic red/black pieces in the middle of the binding posts are removable.
Is the purpose of this to remove and use bananas there?
Thanks,
Bryan
If you live in California, check this link out. Helped me when I was having problems getting the Good Guys to honor their extended warranty policy:

For those interested, I've found a couple of Tripp-Lite and Belkin surge protectors with 10 and 12 foot power cords.
For now, I'm leaning towards a Tripp-Lite Isobar 8 Ultra, for the 12' cord. I'd like to get one, however, that also has coaxial protection.
Again, any suggestions...
Thanks to the Extended Service Plan from Good Guys, I am now able to replace a faulty Yamaha RX-V2095 with either a Yamaha 2200 or Denon 3802.
I currently have the 2200 at home, but I wanted to get some opinions on using either of these receivers with B&W 602's/601's/CC-6 and MK MX-125MKII...
Is there any sort of CRC done on digital audio signals? I would think any sort of error introduced to the signal on the wire would result in a VERY noticeable problem (dropout etc.).
Is this not true? I would think like a modem etc., the resulting digital data has to be perfect for any of it...
How would either the Belden 83030 or Sound King 12ga stuff compare with my existing stuff?
I have Audioquest Type 2 running to the rears and the F-18 flat cables running to the front. The F-18 is the one that broke, but I could just replace the one broken cable I suppose.
Just want to make...
I had read through some other posts similar to mine and it seemed that based on the equipment used, people would recommend specific cables.
Maybe I missed the point of this forum?

It was a flat/bendable Audioquest cable. Seems like it got bent one too many times. I think I want to move away from the flat cable anyway.
Thanks,
Bryan
One of my cables just died, so I'm looking at rewiring my speakers. Also just got a new receiver.
I'd appreciate any advice for this combination:
2 B&W 602's (mains)
2 B&W 601's (rears)
1 B&W CC-6 (center)
Yamaha RX-V2200 (receiver)
I'll probably need a total of ~ 50'. I'd like to...
Has anyone else noticed that the volume on the NBC feed in LA is quite a bit lower than other channels?
I happened to just get a new A/V receiver too, so I'm wondering if the problem is in the feed or receiver.
Thanks,
Bryan
Yeah it's the gold sticker. Also, there are 2 staples, but there are also 2 holes where it looks like 2 staples were before. In other words, if I pull out the 2 staples, there are 4 holes where staples were.
Another thing I noticed was that the tape on the box was cut on the sides of the...
Has anyone else bought a Yamaha receiver recently at Good Guys (or anywhere else)?
Mine has a little sticker on the outside saying that the receiver has passed Yamaha factory specifications or something along those lines. The box is also has 2 sets of staple holes, but only 1 set of staples...
I'd like to think my sub is good enough to handle all the bass. It's an M&K MX-125 MKII.
I can't really play stuff very loud -- ya know, neighbors and such.
Thanks again,
Bryan
Hey all,
I was hoping to get some help configuring a Yamaha RX-V2200 receiver using B&W DM602's as mains, CC-6 as center and DM601's as rears. I also have an M&K subwoofer.
Would you set the front/rears/center as small or large? And should I set the LFE to only go to the sub, or to both...
