The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

  1. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, RoundUppers!

I've consolidated the next few weeks into one large RoundUp.  So navigate the information carefully.  Of course, I've only got the Sunday flyer information for Best Buy and Target for this week (12-20-16).

I suspect I'll be back to add the flyer information when I get it in subsequent posts in the thread.

The holiday crunch is behind us now.  The next few weeks will be rather slow, but as you can see there are still a few high-profile releases coming down the pike.

    Safe shopping!

  2. Thanks for your work, Mike!  Nothing for me out of this list.  Sully and Denial were terrific movies, but I can't see myself wanting to replay them enough to justify a purchase.  American Honey is so bad that I walked out of it in theater, which I almost never do.

  3. Sully has some excellent performances and is well worth a rental. I may pick up Snowden at some point to keep my Oliver Stone collection going but I don't think there's anything in the next three weeks that I'll buy.

Thanks for the prices, Mike and merry Christmas & happy New Year to all! 🙂

  4. Thanks for this monster RoundUp!

Quite a few titles I’m slated to review in these upcoming weeks, but nothing has gotten to me as yet.

Hope everyone has a happy holiday season!

  5. Is this the last RoundUp of 2016? If so, just want to give a great big THANK YOU for all your work throughout the year, Mike.

I'm looking forward to all the releases coming up in 2017.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!

  6. Thanks for another great year of discount pricing, Mike!

I must be reading this incorrectly; does the RoundUp really say that Target has Gilmore Girls: Complete Series on Blu-Ray for $49.99? I thought that show was DVD only.[ATTACH]35591

    Well…There's been a formatting mix-up, Adam.

On the same line that says that the SW Saga Blu is $84.99, is the next line (which should have a hard return in front of it) which says the next set of prices are TV on DVD prices.

I'm off now to see if I can fix that.

  8. Fixed!  Thanks!

I think we BOTH know how desirable a Blu set of the complete Gilmore Girls would be (especially at THAT price!).

Hell, THAT'S a great price for the DVD set!

When I first saw that price on that set a week ago, I was hoping it meant that a Blu set might be forthcoming whenever they get around to releasing the four new Netflix episodes onto disc.

I wonder when those new eps might be released on disc format?

  9. I wonder when those new eps might be released on disc format?

It's a good question. On one extreme, you've got the Marvel/Netflix series that have still yet to see a Stateside release. On the other extreme, you've got "House of Cards" from Sony that made it to disc a mere four months after their Netflix premiere — pretty similar to the delay for a theatrical release.

Warner Bros. is pretty aggressive about maximizing its TV assets for home video, so I'm guessing it will be somewhere in between the two extremes but closer to Sony than Disney/Marvel.

  10. Mike, thanks so much for all the hard work you put into gathering the information for this weekly thread.  This is one of the first things I check out each week (Saturday night or Sunday morning).

Have a wonderful Holiday season at your home.

  11. Merry Christmas, Rounduppers!

Here's the new information on this week's releases and sales!

The prices on this week's new releases have been added to the grid in the original article.

But I'll give you the rest of this week's deals at Best Buy and Target here in this post:

–At Best Buy this week, the promotion continues on UHD movie titles–Buy 2, Save $10 or Buy 3, Save $20.  Several titles are shown (but without prices.  Although I believe most UHD titles at Best Buy are going now for $29.99.):  The Secret Life of Pets, Underworld, Jason Bourne, The Revenant, The Martian, Deadpool, X-Men: Apocalypse, Mad Max Fury Road, Warcraft, ID4: Resurgence.

–BB is also advertising the "Best of 2016"…but without any firm prices.  They only say "starting at $14.99."  Blu-ray titles shown are:  Finding Dory, The Magnificent Seven, Suicide Squad, Star Trek: Beyond, The Legend of Tarzan, Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Kung Fu Panda 3, Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, SPECTRE.

–And, Best Buy is also advertising TV on DVD "favorites: for $17.99 apiece:  Flash: Season 2, Legends of Tomorrow: Season 1, Big Bang Theory: Season 9.

–Target this week has the following 4k UHD movies listed on sale:

    $22.99:  X-Men: Apocalypse

    $24.99:  Storks, Sully, Ghostbusters (2016)

–Target also has the following DVDs listed on sale this week:

    $9.99:  Hell or High Water

    $12.99:  The Huntsman: Winter's War

    $15.99:  Storks

$19.99:  The Magnificent Seven, Suicide Squad (save 10% on this title by using Target's Cartwheel app).

  12. I have added Best Buy and Target prices on the new releases for the upcoming week (1-1-17) in the original article for this RoundUp.  The rest of the sales at those two stores coming soon.

    Happy New Year, RoundUppers!

  13. And here's what the Sunday flyers will have for sales next week (starting 1-1-17) at BB & Target.

    Not much.

–Best Buy is advertising a bunch of TV season sets on Blu-ray–BUT, AGAIN, WITH NO PRICES LISTED!  Instead they just say starting at $14.99:  Big Bang Theory: Season 9, Downton Abbey: S6, Supergirl: S1, Flash: S2, Ash vs. Evil Dead: Season 1, The Walking Dead: S6, Game of Thrones: S6.

I can't imagine anything less helpful in a Sunday flyer.  "Here's a bunch of stuff.  We will charge you $14.99 OR MORE for it.  But you won't know until you come in the store to see."  🙄

–And BB also has some "Family Fun" DVDs listed for $4.99:  Norm of the North, Ice Age, Peppa Pig-Cold Winter Day.

–Target just has a list of $10 DVDs on sale this week:  Ghostbusters (2016), Me Before You, Miracles From Heaven, Our Kind of Traitor, Now You See Me 2, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-Out of the Shadows.

We'll be back next week with a brand new RoundUp and the listing of new releases will return to regular size.  I'll be kicking off my 14th year of compiling the prices and bringing the RoundUp to y'all.

And as I always like to acknowledge,,,a big "thank you" to all you folks who take the time to "like" the RoundUps each week.

Happy 2017 to each and every one of you.  May it be a very healthy and happy year for you.  😀

  14. I have added Best Buy and Target prices on the new releases for the upcoming week (1-1-17) in the original article for this RoundUp.  The rest of the sales at those two stores coming soon.

    Happy New Year, RoundUppers!

Happy New Year, Mike! And my fellow RoundUppers too.
