Just to let you know that these classic shows are now available or will soon be available courtesy of Elephant Films in France. The audio is English. Picture quality is really good
Pascal, thank you for this news! You mention "picture quality is really good", may I ask which of these sets you have?

Iron Horse, The Quest, Matt Helm, Fantastic Journey and The Outcasts are all Columbia/Sony owned shows. Once again, what can't be done in R1 USA/Canada is accomplished overseas!

Let's hope they release more, older, Screen Gems/Columbia TV shows!

The Iron Horse- 2 seasons, 47 eps., 1966-68.
The Outcasts- 26 eps., 1968-69.
The Quest- 15 eps., 1976-77.
Matt Helm- 14 eps., 1975-76.
Fantastic Journey- 10 eps., 1977.

I'm interested in the first four, and maybe the last one too, especially if the French R2 transfers are superior to Madman's R4 set with faded, old and color shifted sources...probably not...

I am half way through The Outcasts. Not remastered but the sound is quite good. Unedited episodes.
Watched the pilot episode of Matt Helm. Better picture quality though not remastered. Unedited.
Thank you for this information, Pascal! Very helpful. I'll likely get these and Iron Horse, a show I watched first run. Somehow, I missed Matt Helm the TV series back in 1976, I do like Anthony Franciosa and wish that Name of the Game (a Universal show) could be pried from the vaults unto DVD...I don't imagine that Elephant would delve way back to a B+W Screen Gems show, but I'd sure like Tallahassee 7000, a Florida filmed cop show starring Walter Matthau, 26 one hour episodes from 1961...I imagine that all of these shows coming from Elephant were originally quite popular in France back in the day...

These classic shows aired a few years after their US broadcast but haven’t been seen in ages since we don’t have a classic tv show channel here in a France such as Me tv or antenna tv
Elephant Films messed up their release of Mrs Columbo and Whiz kids but the Gemini Man DVDs were good.
By the way, Mike Hammer, the 1984 Stacy Keach show, is soon to be released too.

I wish they would delve into the Sony sitcom archive, more so than these shows. Its funny, but I have the majority of the run of The Outcasts from BET years ago and when I filled in the missing episodes from GET, I noticed that whenever a certain pejorative word for blacks was used, they silenced the audio. For dramas, Empire would be an interesting one for them to do.

Sitcoms I'd love to get from them would be Love on a Rooftop, Occasional Wife, Temperatures Rising, Second Hundred Years, The Good Life, The Paul Lynde Show and of course The Farmer's Daughter. Is there a contact for that company where we can send our suggestions? Of course, as always, I'm sure a lot depends on existing elements and transfers as I'm sure Elephant isn't going to be paying any company to go back and dig out 35mm prints.

What's the Peter Graves series, Fury? Didn't that come out complete in Germany?

I think it's Whiplash, Neil, as the 34 episode count (and Aussie-style boonie hat) on the box art hints at. Timeless put a set out in the U.S. in 2012, which is still available and quite affordable. Network released Whiplash in Region 2 a while back, but that one is OOP now, and quite expensive.

Even though this one is not a new release, I'm happy to see The Outcasts, The Iron Horse, The Quest and Matt Helm make their DVD debuts.

Be interested in seeing if The Iron Horse is complete or if they're the same 46 minute cut remasters that ran on Antenna.

I tried to contact Elephant Films on their Facebook page to give them some requests for shows. I don't speak French so I had to use the Google Translator to translate my English message.I haven't gotten an answer back yet.

I discovered Elephant Films a few months ago when I saw that they had the Magnum PI Blu rays in individual seasons (different from Fabulous Films where they only have the whole series set) where I could afford to get the two seasons I wanted the most. And they luckily have the audio in English.

I have their "The Sixth Sense" release and the picture quality is decent enough, but it does have 4 per cent PAL speed up. I was able to rip them and convert the episodes to their proper running time.

Asking again about Iron Horse. Does anyone have the DVDs and can you confirm if they are complete or the same 46 minute (shorter in PAL) versions which ran on Antenna TV?

I have to correct you on Tallahassee 7000. It is in the half-hour format, although the pilot episode, The Men From Tallahassee, which William Bryant co-starred alongside Matthau runs for 50 minutes. It's on YouTube if you wanna see it! You'll be able to see a sales pitch from Walter Matthau!

I did not check all of the episodes but I did a sampling. The episodes vary in length from slightly shorter than 45 minutes to slightly longer than 51 minutes. Approximately half of the episodes I checked were over 50 minutes in length, and the other half were slightly short of 45 minutes. The DVD plays a brief message at the beginning of the abbreviated episodes stating (in French) that the original complete episode could not be located.
