Why the requirement of being Canadian? Lex gear is made in the USA so there would be no duty if shipped from the US to Canada.

Ya, no duty but I will get slapped with GST+PST and "prep" fee when it crosses the border. At today's exchange rate $1500 usd is $2083 cdn. The taxes would be $312 cdn + about $50 for what UPS/FEDEX charge to do the paperwork. With a private Canadian seller I obviously wouldn't pay any of that. Do you Americans pay any of this nonsense when buying used goods?

Of course they do. They pay their sales tax and a brokerage fee. Just like if you buy used gear in store, you pay tax.
