I just haven't read enough of either one to judge. I hated The Bell Jar, but I like what little I've read of Frost and Hemingway. I like some Heinlein, but certainly not all of it, and Straub and Tyler are okay.

Heinlein alone almost gets my vote for Brian, but Angelo has Hammett, and others that I prefer to the rest of Brian's.

I am not familiar with a lot of Brian's list so I don't think it would be fair to vote for either one.

Not familiar with enough of Angelo's to choose. I am a big fan of Robert R. McCammon and Peter Straub from Brian's list, though.

Brian Lawrence -Two excellent lists but Heinlein, one of my favorites, puts Brian over the edge.

A vote for me.

My thoughts on Brian's list...

Joyce Carol Oates: not a fan
Robert A. Heinlein: only read Stranger... and Starship Troopers and liked them both
Thomas Hardy: good pick
Robert R. McCammon: not that familiar
D.H. Lawrence: good pick
Anne Tyler: no thanks
Peter Straub: nah
Truman Capote: great pick
Ed Gorman: not that familiar
Dan Simmons: not that familiar

Angelo.M, just barely. Brian actually has more I like, but Angelo has those I like more.

Steve has 2 that I like a lot (Steven Jay Gould and Joseph Conrad) and one that I like to a lesser extent (Andrea Barrett). I loved Charles Frazier's one-and-only novel, and can't wait for the next.

But, Justin has Joyce, Fitzgerald, Eliot, Mamet and William Carlos Williams. In the end, it's no contest...

I'll abstain as I reluctantly admit to having read very little from anyone on Justin's list. :frowning:
