Forgot to mention that a friend gave me his used copy of Quantum Leap Season 1 on Blu-Ray. Haven't seen this series since it first aired, and am wondering how it holds up.

Sure wish I had ordered those Disney Treasures Zorro sets when they were still in print and not so prohibitively expensive. Hadn't grown up with the series and wasn't interested at the time...regret it now.

The price got me, I felt they might have been. Has been nice revisiting this series though :D! This was the "other caped" series where we would grab sticks and towels and swish "Z's" through the neighborhood.

The Girl from U.N.C.L.E. - The Complete Series Part 1

And just *why* do they call it "The complete series" when it was a 1 season show? Makes it sound like there's lots more than a single season. And why split it into 2 parts? OK... I get that it's an overpriced MOD release but still...

Rawhide - Season 1 from Walmart for $5.

Plenty of other introductory season sets for the same amount.
    Hawaii Five-0 seasons 1 and 2
Wild Wild West seasons 1, 2 and 3
    I Love Lucy season 1
    Penny Dreadful
    Ray Donovan
    Jag seasons 1 and 2
and others that I cannot recall.

These were at a Walmart approximately 20 miles from Macon, could be a YMMV selection.

"Give-O"? I think you mean Five-O (might want to edit).

The price dropped low enough that I finally bought the Region B Blu- Ray set of Sharpe: The Original Series Collection.

I got an official set of Steptoe & Son ($13 used!!) and the movies set all from ebay. The prices on the movie set range from $12 to $85 on the net. crazy. I got it for $12. The movies are region 1 I think but the TV set is 2 and 4.

When I play these on Windows 10 with VLC, the amount of time it takes for each disc to start and go to the the menu is different. damnest thing! I watched the last one on disc 5 last night and it worked great. (That's the one where they take the airplane trip and the old guy Albert is afraid of flying and the son is teasing him. Then the old guy says he's going to release a spider in the son's room if he doesn't stop and the son just panics. So classic! The old guy also gets in a war story argument with a French passenger played by Mr. Peacock from Are you Being SErved!!! and this America guy.) Anyway, I put in disc 6 and it wouldn't load! Got worried and tried to find a region hack, couldn't really find the one I used for Windows 7. Then I started trying all the discs from the beginning and it was different the amount of time it took for each to finally start. I tried 6 again and after a bit it did load. whew! I just didn't give it time I guess. I thought that seemed weird. Just now going to watch a few episode over breakfast to make sure it works. (the music is playing as I type this MUST watcch!! lol) MUst get a region free player.

The entirety of any series on DVD in one release is usually called "the complete series," whether it's just one go, or several, so long as all of the series is presented in a release.

That said, I think the better question is why "The Complete Series" designation was added to the labeling for both parts of The Girl from U.N.C.L.E.-- I think it would have been better served simply to label the releases The Girl from U.N.C.L.E. Part 1 and The Girl from U.N.C.L.E. Part 2, and to leave that "Complete Series" designation out of it.

After all, don't you think it was a bit awkward for the releases of Eight Is Enough to say things like "The Complete Second Season, Part 1"? I think it would have been, because the DVD buyer will be drawn to the labeling of "The Complete Second Season," and then when they get it and see "Part 1," they'll probably feel cheated, thinking that they were getting the entire second go in one release, and only getting part of it. This is why Perry Mason and other CBS volume releases got it right: because they labeled their volumes as "Season X, Volume Y," instead of saying "Complete".

Have the first season of this one, and find it still holds up well from my fondly-remembered viewings when it first aired. Enjoy, Ben!

Thanks, Jeff-- looking very much forward to enjoying it (especially as it started right on my 3rd birthday [Tues. Jan. 3, 1984])!

Certainly am (and when I had my 38th birthday earlier this year, Riptide had the 35th anniversary of its premiere on NBC)!

I just pre-ordered the two sets of Gunsmoke season 15.
And as Matt Dillon used to say to his opponents: “Hold it right there”.

Only 5 more seasons to go...never thought CBS/Paramount would see this series all the way through. They still might not, but the chances of completion seem fairly strong. I mean, they've made it 3/4 of the way through the series...be a shame to stop now.

OK... you're just a year older than my son! My daughter turns 40 this year. Man... makes me feel old... then I watch one of my classic 60s shows and feel like a kid again. :)

I started watching my BR copy of From the Earth to the Moon yesterday. That's such a good series! There are lots of things in that series that really take me back to those days, sometimes not in a good way. 1968 in particular - that was a rough year in many ways. I turned 13 that year and was becoming more aware of what was going on in the country. But there was the good - some great rock 'n roll came out and some of my all-time favorite TV shows were on the air.

    Heh.

He's two years older than I am.

Of course, over at Reddit, I'm the old person. So it's all relative, innit?

Anyway, Goldbergs S6 arrived today. Mayans S1 in the mail, Pan-Am came last week. And, I took a chance on a Doctor Who Blu lot on Ebay, hoping they're not bootlegs, since WBBC is filling in the Region A Blu gap with a full Tennant set, so those are all on the way.
