Rear: JBL N24
Sub: Sony SAW-M40
Receiver: Onkyo 595
That combination was all the rage two years ago for most bang for the buck.
Would like to upgrade to a pair of Axiom M80's for two channel music reproduction along with an NAD 370 integrated amp.

Two systems. No 1: Onkyo TH-500. Good bang for the buck. No 2: Home built ET center. Fronts, Yamaha NS-A 635. No bass but nice mids and hi's. Surrounds are Optimus 2057 metal bookshelfs with 5" woofers. Good sound for the size. For the center channel I wired two Infinity 5 1/4" car speakers in series. KLH 8" sub.

Just ordered a JBL EC35 center to replace my N-CenterII. I'm also going to replace my four N24II's as budget permits. I won't be replacing my sub though (Dayton Tiny Mighty II :D ). Speakers are powered by a Pioneer VSX-D912K.

mix & match system for the poor college student (like me).

Mains:

Acoustic Research S-40

Surrounds:

Acoustic Research S-40

Rear Surrounds:

Acoustic Research S-20

Sub:

JBL PSW-D112

Center:

Optimus Pro CS-5

Head unit:

Yamaha HTR-5790

I'm working toward having my loudspeakers match but still have a ways to go. I don't have a HUGE listening area so as is this is more than enough system for me. Even so I envy you guys with the gear from M&K, Klipsch, B&K etc. Perhaps someday my higher education will actually pay off and then I may be able to afford some REAL audiophile grade gear. However, until my ears mature to fully appreciate such an investment my 'lil setup will continue to suffice.

I must admit I'm most curious about the SVS subwoofer line. My cheapo sub makes so much deep bass that I can't imagine the damage a REAL sub does at moderate movie listening levels. I'm sure it packs a huge WOW factor. Now if I only find that $2k I had lying around....

my main system:

fronts: magnepan tympani 1D's (pretty rare and in mint condition)

rears: magnepan SMGc's

(center channel is phantom right now, tympani's are wide enough for a full front soundstage... for those not familiar, EACH speaker is 4' x 6'.)

subs: dual velodyne HGS-15x's

yummy stuff. some of the best stuff ive heard.

Since Hurricane Ivan I am in the market for a new

home theater.

I went to audition Paradigms and was able

to A/B compare them with the B&W 600 series..

My choice now is:

2- B&W 603s

2- B&W 601s

LCR 600 center

ASW 675 sub

any comments pro or con?

2 - S26II's as mains
1 - S-Center II
2 - S36IIPM's as my surrounds.
1 - SVS 2039PCi as the evil bass monster! :D
And one box of spare S26II's...for the day I can build a dedicated 7.1 HT (may add on to house next year) or garage or ?
