the old thread shows there were number of folks ditched the DTS version for sharper image DD version, the same vice versa to those re-purchase just for audio, ignoring the extras or sharp picture.

today, in the BluRay age, the audio part sounds thinner logically because the video part takes a big portion of data space in a single disc.

beside the DTS DVD above, i also have the APOLLO13 DTS Matrix Surround LaserDisc. when DTS LaserDisc was made available in the later days, i didn't acquire it due to the high listing price. however, the DTS Matrix Surround does have it's impact to my front channel speakers. when DVD arrived, it further enhanced the audio experience. both DTS LaserDisc and the DVD were demo material used in audio shows consecutively 3yrs each during their times, but certainly not good demo material in the Video part... which still look soft even if i had upscaled the resolution of the DVD today to 1080P.
i had placed my order for the 4K release, which is still in the process of compiled order from the seller. i've not much expectation on BluRay DTS-X as i'm now crippled by the hardware, be it the TV, or the BluRay player with on-board decoding.
I don't necessarily agree with the sentiment that "in the Blu-ray age, the audio part sounds thinner logically...."

Unless you're talking about the way a DVD's audio track sounds in the Blu-ray age?
