This is the best I have seen of a Quck Draw McGraw opening with the Kelloggs ad.

Great stuff!!!!! Daws Butler was the best voice artist - I love Mel Blanc but some of his characters were sped up etc Butler sounded like the characters he voiced each and every one Just wish we see these released via WAC!

Yes. They've done plenty of them already. On Blu-ray, they've done a boatload of DC animation, some Hanna-Barbera, Tom & Jerry, Tex Avery, and Popeye.
We need more Tom & Jerry ! :( Volume 1 Bluray and that was the End !??

Volume two was cancelled years ago by Warner Home Video after fans said they wouldn't buy it because they weren't including 2 cartoons with racial concerns. So WHV listened and cancelled it. They haven't had any interest in the series since then and that was at least 8 years ago.

Seems more likely that the first set didn't sell well enough, period. Cartoon fans think they're a big market but are really a drop in the bucket compared to the general audience. And like fans of older films in general their numbers continue to decline with age. Plus the shrinking physical media market and that most people under 35 or so don't even know who Tom and Jerry are, any more than they know who Clark Gable, Humphrey Bogart or Paul Newman are.

So sad, but true.

Maybe more likely but it isn't what happened. This was about 10 years ago so things were a bit different. The 2nd volume was announced shortly after the 1st was released which did sell well according to Amazon and other sales trackers of the time. After they announced two questionable cartoons that were scheduled to be part of the collection would no longer be included the internet blew up with complaints. Many said they would not buy it without those cartoons, which most likely led to lots of preorders being cancelled. This was back when discs sales were still big and the major studios were active in forums. A couple months later they cancelled it. Its a case of be careful what you wish for.

What Randy has said above is correct. I remember it well.

And, I'm not in agreement as to those under 35 not knowing who Tom and Jerry are. During the height of the pandemic in early 2021 Warner Bros. released the theatrical feature Tom and Jerry which made over $136M worldwide. Not the greatest BO, but considering the times, not too bad.

I assure you that the majority of that box office was comprised of 1-adults taking their kids to an animated film on a weekend and 2-kids that had zero knowledge of who Tom & Jerry were. Did anyone on this forum clamoring for a blu ray collection see the recent theatrical film ?

It would take actual numbers, which will never be forthcoming, to establish that scenario as fact. How many copies of the first set sold vs. what WHV would have been satisfied with? What percentage of those that did sell were to customers who would care about two missing cartoons in a second volume, or for that matter even be aware of it? My bet is that the answers are, in the first instance, not enough, and in the second, not enough to make a difference.

The worlds inhabited by hard-core fans of any material tend to be insular, and raging storms within them generally don't even stir a breeze in the great beyond.

I continue to hope for more of Warner's classic cartoon library on DVD. We at the very least need....

-The remaining Popeye theatrical shorts
-The remaining 1960's Popeye cartoons
-The remaining Tex Avery MGM shorts
-The Barney Bear MGM shorts
-The Rough and Ready Show
-The Huckleberry Hound Show (Huckleberry Hound, OG Yogi, Pixie and Dixie, Hokey Wolf)
-The Quickdraw Mcgraw Show (Quickdraw McGraw, Auggie Doggie, Snooper and Blabber)
-Touche Turtle
-As many remaining Looney Tunes/Merry Melodies as possible.
-later years Looney tunes shows like Taz Mania, Tweety Mysteries, The Looney Tunes Show and Looney Tunes Cartoons.

On High Society Bing Crosby Productions can that be the hold-up = did BCP sell their interest in the film to MGM/Turner/WB or does BCP still have an interest

No. It's owned by Warner and it's been stated many times that the elements are the issue in holding up a Blu-ray release. Hopefully, that will change as digital tools improve to lower the cost of restorations.

WOW someone just confirmed on Tim Millards great FB the negative for Top Hat is the one that exists - he worked at TCM and the neg was used for a restoration then he said it is very brittle and in rough shape if it is still usable should make the basis for a great restoration - fingers crossed

Is “Tim Millards great FB” supposed to mean Tim Millard's Facebook page? Because I don't see any recent posting about Top Hat on it.

Warner Archive & Warner Bros Catalogue The negative for Top Hat still exists. It was used for the earlier restoration done when I was working at TCM but it is very brittle and in rough shape.

Its under the post for Flying Down To Rio - read the comments I am not posting his name because he might not be on the forum
