Hi all,

Again, I am new to the forum and appreciate any answers to my many questions. Would it make a difference in sound quality whether I use metal or wood studs while framing my walls?

Not sound quality, but for building a home theater, the only thing I can think of is that it might be easier to hang a heavy TV (or whatever) on a wall framed with wood studs. Sheet metal screws into metal studs will probably not hold anything heavy. You can use toggle bolts, which will probably do the job, or install wood blocking between your metal studs before closing up the walls, if you know where you might want to place things.

Generally your decision to use metal studs will be based on other things, like termites, water/moisture, fire resistance, and local building codes.

Thanks guys for the welcome and replies. I will be framing the other part of the basement with metal studs and figure I'd continue with metal into he cinema room. I will be using a projector screen so there'll be no issue of mounting anything heavy.
I'm looking forward to the project and happy to be part of the forum. Thanks again.
