My friend, who is a business owner, clued me into some of Yelp's shady antics a couple years ago. It's interesting it's only gotten worse.

I don't use yelp much because their core user data is of such low value. Searching for a restaurant, yelp finds lots of Korean and pho places, but few regular fast food or non-ethnic options.It also doesn't keep up with restaurant closures, and address errors. It has sent me on wild goose chases across the country.This pay-to-play is a problem for Apple, since their review data is sourced from yelp.

I heard there's a restaurant just outside San francisco that gives discounts for bad reviews for its own site. Yelp is messed up. Too bad. I kind of liked it.
