El Presidente always cheers me up on dreary days, he was complaining about Parasite winning Best Picture at the Oscars, probably wondering why Hollywood isn't making great movies like Gone With the Wind, Birth of a Nation or Song of the South anymore, and letting the Koreans win all the awards. Something like that anyway he might have a point, but than I haven't seen Parasite either. When I do it better be the greatest film of 2019 or I'm never watching another Oscar show again ever EVER! (you say that every year Steve!)

Steve! Parasite is heading to IMAX! Why? Who knows?!?!? You love the IMAX! I think? Make the Big O proud! Or sad? Is he for or against anything? Hmmmm....

I might go see it with a friend. it would make it a rare modern 2-timer for me. Parasite! What a world!

I'm not sure about an IMAX presentation of Parasite. If the Aspect Ratio is altered then I think this will likely degrade one of the film's strengths - its cinematography. In one of the other threads, I talked about the film and it has, hands down, the best cinematography I've seen in a long, long time in terms of composition, framing, and perspective. I would have been fine with it taking cinematography at the Academy Awards as much as I enjoyed Deakins' work on 1917.

Anyway, Steve you should check it out. It is a great film and deserving of all the praise and awards it has received.

- Walter.

Hey Walter, I can't imagine they will crop it. I imagine it will just be bigger. But who knows? They were doing black and white releases too.

I have to profess my ignorance on the topic of bringing theatrical exhibitions to IMAX. I guess another venue to bring in more revenue is fine. (It isn't like the original version is destroyed, and more viewing options isn't a terrible thing.)

I've heard about the Black & White version and that sounds kind of interesting. I've only seen the film once (on Blu-Ray; before the Criterion version was announced) and I don't remember color being explicitly used to convey themes although given the richness of the film that might be something I missed and should consider on my next viewing.

Oh yeah, Steve - watch it you won't be disappointed.

- Walter.

C'mon, Steve. I'm gonna watch it too. Parasite has actually been on my very short stack the past week...but I just haven't found the time...yet. But, soon.

I can get to it now, Steve...because Peg and I just finished binging--yet again--all 7+ seasons of Gilmore Girls [cue Steve's exasperated sigh and eyeroll.]

The Jerry Goldsmith score really marked the end for the original and next generation movies before those jar jar abrams, abominations came along. Originals and next-generation movies only!
