ok guys really wierd question. I'm not sure where this idea came from maybe it came to me in a dream or i overheard it somewhere, but i heard that putting your subwoofer in a box with an open top makes it sound bigger. so i tried this with my computer speaker sub which is a small 7" woofer. i put it in an open top plastic file container. and strangely enough it seems to work? am i crazy? or is there something acoustic going on in that box?

Bigger? Now it just sounds like it is in a box...[IMG]

What you are most likely hearing is all the reflections from the sub focused through the top. With a sub that extends lower, I would think this idea would only harm output, not help.
