Speaker Quality question...... (1 Viewer)

Last night I was at my father in laws house and watching ice age... I was amazed at the surround effect in his house!!
Why isnt mine that good. i know hes got good speakers (better than mine)
Mine are 2 floor pioneer(ok), pioneer center(ok).....
and (dont laugh.......) surround TECHNICS. I figure my surround speakers are shitty. Are they? Would real good surrounds make that big of a difference..... At his house I could hear it so well. Last night I watched Gold Member and struggled to hear much surround coming?? Oh and by the way my receiver is better than his (his doesnt even have 5.1 or DTS, he was just running it through his AUX.)
Any help guys would be just keen....lol

oh also my surround speaker wire is kinda cheap.... real small.... Probally answering my own question

You need to make sure that your levels are set properly. It sounds like, because of sensitivity and/or placement issues, the level of the rear speakers is low.

There's no substitute, however, for good speakers. (although you still need to set levels)
