Can someone confirm/deny this?
That is correct. Time alignment is non existent on most SACD players to date. Only a few high end models have this feature which is appaerently very difficult to implement with DSD. I also stay away from the Bass management provided by Sony's players for SACD because of the 120 hZ crossover which is far from optimal, and the detrimental effect it seems to have on the SACD sound quality. For proper bass management go with an ICBM or just leave your speakers set to large.

I still can't see why. It only requires delaying the bitstream to the closer channels by the number of samples needed to create the time differential of the further channels.

Sorry, the thread I started to discuss this got closed when the format war intruded :angry:
