This was released in the US last week, and was wondering if there any DVD reviews around or if anyone can give me their impression of it.

The Canadian DVD has been out for a year - but I'm not sure how it compares.

    Anyone have any info?

It's such an amazing film that I want to get the best R1 version available.

I bought the R1 version blind, based on some clips and R Ebert's review. But have not yet had the chance to view it....

I watched the New Yorker R1 version last night. Can't say I loved the film though.

The disc wasn't the greatest. Poorly produced it seems. It didn't even have a time code for it. One of only a few discs (the others mainly being cheap Indian / Bollywood DVDs)where the front of the player just says "Play" rather than the track and time listing when the film is playing.

A few extras, deleted and extended scenes, director's commentary.

    The transfer looked ok though.

The Alliance Atlantis disc from Canada is from a PAL source. While the ghosting didnt bug me , the closed captioned subtitles did. Nothing more distracting than "Door opens" on the subtitles while trying to watch a movie. So i guess the question is the US disc from a PAL source..and are the subs upto par?.
