Stay away from Dodges then...the neons and their SUV's are some of the most frequently stolen cars made.

Are you looking for new or used? What price range? Import, American?

I just bought a new Honda Accord EX. This winter milage has been about 20 mpg -- the gas pumps are the one place I miss my Ford Escort ;) . I'm hoping this Spring to get ~25 mpg. It has strong acceleration and rides smoothly at 80 mph. Can't speak for 100.

And just how much winter driving do you encounter out there in San Jose? ;)

Honda states mileage for the Accord EX at about 24/34 city/highway.

I think I'm getting a new Honda CR-V in a couple months. :D

Our "winter driving" includes having gas mixed with ethanol during winter months, which knocks mileage into a cocked hat.

In agreement with Dan here Julian. Can I use that line--it could be applied to many, many posts.

Although I'm sure it's very clever, I don't get it. Is there a poem by e. e. cummings being referenced that I'm not familiar with? Or perhaps I'm just ignorant of the fact that he walked barefoot everywhere he went?

Thanks for the clue. :)

If I were shopping for a 4-door sedan, I'd be looking seriously at the Nissan Maxima or Altima, new or used.

"e e cummings" is a poet primarily known for his nearly total abandonment of grammatical and spelling conventions. That said, I don't really dig any of his stuff, but he is good for a joke now and then, but only if your friends know waht you're talking about.

Good one Julian:emoji_thumbsup:

Yes, it's the V6, which is rated at 20/30 I think. In case it matters, this has been the winter with incessant snow and record low-temperatures on the East Coast -- sub-zero temperatures for a week or two. Manly temperatures, unlike the sissy stuff you get in San Jose. Dennis, you're obviously driving a F150 to compensate for your winter envy. :D

Seriously, do you get 19 highway per the offical ratings, or is that what you see at the pump during normal driving? I've not taken any long cruises to see what my real highway mileage is.

My old Ford Escort got 30 during normal driving, and up to 40 on long highway trips.

To be a litle more helpful, and less of a smartass, I suggest a Nissan Altima. For economy, the 2.5L model is not bad.

But if I was buying a sedan, I'd buy the Maxima, but my workday round trip is only about 5 miles.

A Chicago Collar and a Club might have made the asshole move on the next car...

Too bad, sorry about the invasion and loss.
