They do blow up the mad Magazine building (which I don't rally believe there is one) and the ensuing rubble looks almost too similar. They do show the people who were in the building as being ok.

Buildings blowing up isn't exactly a new thing in cartoons. If it had been more similar to the NY attack I could see why they wouldn't show it in syndication for a while.
I really hope they don't exclude this from syndication because of this.

Another episode that may have a problem, at least for now is the one where Lisa fears she is getting stupid and she is watching TV with Bart and Homer. They are watching a FOX special "When Buildings Collapse. They show several buildings collapsing and Bart and Homer laughing. Lisa says 'There wsere probably people in there." Homer (laughing) "Yeah"

I can understand if they don't want to show that. It's much more disturbing to me than the missile attack on Mad Magazine mentioned above.

I'm not a big enough Simpsons fan to know this, but was the episode you mention made before or after the Oklahoma City bombing?

On September 28th, in this very thread, I posted the following from The Simpsons Sourcebook:
Reiss also said that the N'Sync episode of recent days is being pulled from syndication for it's depiction of New York.
Today, when I turned on the local FOX affiliate to catch their daily syndicated airing of The Simpsons, what did I see? Lo and behold, they showed the very episode in question, in its entirety. Interesting. Maybe that means "Homer vs. NYC" will also be added back into the syndication rotation soon.
