I'm seeing Jerry Seinfeld do stand up live in a couple of weeks. I've been wondering what is appropriate to wear to such an event. It's at a fairly nice auditorium at a university. They hold concerts (orchestra), dance competitions, and the like there. But since I've never seen a comedian live before, I really have no idea what to expect. What do you think?

Edit: It may be appropriate to note that I'm taking a date.

Who's ready to laugh?? :)

I went to see Seinfeld when he came out about 5 or 6 years ago at a Sydney theatre, just long pants and a shirt will suffice.

I'm sure there will be people there wearing jeans and sneakers. But I'd go a bit less casual than that...Maybe dockers with a decent sweater, or even a jacket over a button down casual dress shirt.

....For outerwear, I recommend a suede jacket with a white and pink striped lining...Or if it rains, the Executive trench coat :D

I'm sure khakis & decent shirt will be fine. Throw on a sportcoat if you're worried about being underdressed. It's not like you're going to opening night at the opera. Just wear what you'd normally wear for a non-jeans date and don't sweat it. Odds are that many of the people will be wearing jeans anyhow.

here's what you need: (I'll give you some options)

a bro
boxers - you need a good neighborhood for your boys
a puffy shirt (golden boy is an option)
a russian hat (or urban sombrero, OR a Baltimore Orioles cap)
Timberlands (or himalayan walking shoes)
and tight tight tight jeans that you'll need the jaws of life to get out of
since it's still February, you'll also need a good sized goretex jacket.
and a fat ass wallet that explodes when you try to stuff the tickets in it...
finally, a soup nazi bandana

orrrrr...... you can skip it all and just go for cruisewear.

(edit: btw I'm very jealous)

Man you guys are brutal......lol. I'd wear some black dress pants and shoes with a buttoned collared shit, long or short.

But leave it open enough to show off your chest hairs and gold medallion.:D
