After playing around with some DVD-A discs on my Toshiba 4700, I have run into a pretty annoying problem. In the Toshiba's setup menu, you have to manually select the 6 channel output to hear DVD-A discs. When you then want to watch a DVD movie, it seems that you have to switch the player's audio output back to bitstream to play DD and DTS soundtracks. Doesn't anyone else find this incredibly annoying or am I missing a way to have both outputs active at the same time?

Peter,

Toshiba and Toshiba based units are brain dead when it comes to ergonomics in handling their outputs.

This is a big problem and I think we've bitched about it in print.

FWIW, the JVC and Panasonic DVD-A players handle things a bit better ergonomically, without having to switch between output options.

Regards,
