Hi all.

I will be building a new house in a couple of months and would like to have all the stuff in the HT room all thought out. I'll be looking at FP. I have a few questions.

1. Where should the equipment be placed? Should all the players, etc be placed near the back of the room? Or in the front?

2. What cables would I need to prewire to the devices?

I know there are more questions I'm missing. But I'm coming up blank. Thanks.

1. In my opinion, equipment should be placed near the back of the room. It will be closer for easy access and the lights won't be a distraction from the movie. One exception might be if you have amplifiers with fans - keep them as far away as possible.

2. PRE WIRE EVERYTHING!
It is so cheap to do now, and so much a pain to do later:
7.1 sound
Optional subwoofer locations
Platform bass shakers
Video, power, and screen trigger to projector mount
CAT5E for networking
CATV, OTA and/or Satellite feeds
Extra dedicated 120V circuits for equipment
Extra lighting circuits (sconces, etc)
Power and trigger for motorized screen
Power and trigger for motorized draperies
Computer interface to video display
Multi-zone speakers from equipment area
Phone line for TIVO
Security equipment
etc.
