when and if I get a new amp for my SVS diy sub, how many watts can i safely throw at it? is 250 the max i should go or will it handle more? I know they say like 600watts for the shiva but im not sure about the svs driver.

Seems as how ported enclosures are pretty efficient, I'm guessing you'd be reaching max excursion before using all of your 250 watts of clean power. Someone here I'm sure knows better than I. I plan on building a 5^3 enclosure for my SVS original driver and just got the 250 watt plate amp. That's alll I'm going to send to mine. Later

With the old driver my samson amp (350 watts) never clipped but the driver bottomed out several times. Over-excursion is the only problem with it.
