Opinions on my DVD collection? (1 Viewer)

Some of you guys OWN 1000+ DVDs? Wooh!..room..spinning...y'all are obviously doing quite well for yourselves - can I borrow some money? Either that, or you're snapper-sniffing fiends for these discs, and most of you have right arms missing (um, for having traded it away for yet another must-have DVD - what were you thinking )...Seriously fellers, them's a lotta DVDs to watch more'n once. Shows extremely broad tastes. Or lack thereof some mite argue (but not me ;-)). Just how many "classics" are there anyway?

I just passed the 500 mark after about 2 years of collecting. I don't regret 99% of what I've purchased, these little dics bring me, my family and friends endless enjoyment!

I really need to get Lawrence of Arabia too.

I need to get a bigger house! I'm only at 176 with the recent addition of Joy Ride, made my own Access Database up with my collection, at work right now, since it has the prices paid in there and the wife would probably be upset...but 99% of the movies are ones that I could reach in and watch again without saying ah, I've seen that already, and some are watched almost every month!
The benefits I see are immediate, in that you don't have to go out and try to find a movie you like to rent and hope they have it on the shelf, and when friends come over they have a nice library to choose from...Now I must say the addition of some Classic TV series is going a bit but heck, I don't have Cable or satellite so they are looking pretty good to me, can't wait for Season 2 of the Simpsons...

StephenA - Any collection isn't a collection without Jaws. But since you own it, you have a good start of a collection. I'd make a big list of all my movies, But it would only amount to about 100 or so (I'm poor).
But from what I can tell, I am the only Jorg Buttgereit fan on the Home Theater Forum. I have both releases for Nekromantik(signed even!), and Schramm. Nekromantik 2 was supposed to be released in may, but they (Barrel Entertainment) fell behind while working on the disc for Last House on Dead End Street. I even have a copy of die Todesking on VHS, There is no word on when the DVD version will be available (Supposedly Barrel has the region 1 distribution for this also).

Very nice collection overall, but you could afford to add some classic B&W movies. I'd suggest On The Waterfront, Citizen Kane and A Streetcar Named Desire for starters. Oh yeah, you also need the complete Evil Dead trilogy. OK, that post was meant for the thread-starter, but it could go for the both of ya's.

It is probably the smallest collection I have seen, but I am happy with them! This is going to grow for sure. I am getting LOTR on August 6th, and BTTF on December 17th. Also, my birthday is coming up next month!! I hope to be up to around 15 or 20 by the end of the year! Any recommendations on what I should get for next?

I have just over 4000 DVD's now. Its become a bit of a problem
The second bedroom is just for storing DVD's.
All sorts in the collection - some real crap - and loads of duplicate films (superbit copies, new versions etc...) The only thing I will not buy is the real bad low quality horror films that they seem to love to release here in the UK.
