Stephen, Nice start there.

I've managed to accumilate over 350 discs over four years of collecting. The Majority over the last two years. Did I ever think it would get this big? No. But it did, and I stand proud of my DVD collection.

Do I agree with everything on your list? No, but then again, I'm not about to defend the presence of The Little Vampire on my list...

We just have out guilty pleasures....

You should be proud of your collection because it's a reflection of you, not anyone else. If they put down your collection, they are just putting you down. So screw 'em.
By the way, I love movies like Charlie's Angels as much as the next guy, but I must say that I've never gone wrong sticking to the AFI Top 100 list and the Best Picture Oscar winners list when it comes to getting some "excellent" movies for my collection.
Thanks to these great lists, I've been turned on to the wonders of many cinematic offerings that I would not have bothered with otherwise, such as Alfred Hitchcock (who I, as a child, had always dismissed as some odd fat guy who made funny remarks on TV). Boy, was I wrong!

Perhaps my post was taken out of context, I don't know. I was just simply stating that my collection is what it is, and I won't apologize for a movie I happened to enjoy.

However, these lists are fun to look at. Sometimes I will either see a movie on someone's list that I've either forgotten to see (more likely) or never heard of (less likely). I then make a point to seek it out, if my interest is peaked.

Well my cousin is into porn and offbeat movies like Joe Dirt, Superstar, and Road Trip. He'd rather watch Bring It On than Lawrence of Arabia. He doesn't usually like movies over an hour and a half. He has fallen asleep during most of my movies, saying when he woke up that they were boring. He don't like epic movies or old movies either.

I once yelled at a guy because he preffered Road Trip over Mission To Mars. I kept yelling Tom Green Tom Green!! Anyway, I won't get into that debate.
It seems as if your cousin is the one with the really bad taste (if you don't mind me saying so). And, trying not to insult him, but it seems as if he enjoys "mindless" films rather than thought-prevoking or even epic films. Sorry, no offense was intended.
So let him enjoy his "Road Trip" or "Bring It On" because I would definately watch (and always up for disscussion about) Lawrence of Arabia with anyone anytime, anywhere (which reminds me of an Aliens quote: "F*ck You, man!" ... "Anytime, Anywhere."). Looking at my reply, just call me Parenthetical Guy: one who abuses the use of parenthesis (sp?)!
Also, have you checked out my DVD list? Similar in some respects.

Well according to my DVD profiler my collection now stands at 794 and counting... I'm not going to list them here as it will frighten the life out of me to finally realise how much i've spent on these little discs! and Christmas hasn't arrived yet... I think I need therapy...

By the way as already mentioned by other users above DVD Profiler is superb and well worth using.

The only real problem I have with Stephen's list is the absence of 2001: A Space Odyssey (new version, of course). :)

Blimey, my collection's not very mainstream!
Jon's discs
And what are my next purchases? Badlands, Two-Lane Blacktop, The Stunt Man and Nosferatu (the original)!

Welcome to the forum.
Nice list. Keep going for diversity.
I'm one of the "unpopular" ones here. Just look at my DVD collection. I'm pretty sure it infuriates every elitist bastard here ;)
If somebody can explain how in the world I can enjoy Lawrence of Arabia and Citizen Kane next to supposedly "awful" movies like The Patriot and Armageddon, I'm all ears. I'll guarantee that they have a better explanation than I do.

Dome,

I actually think you have a good, solid collection, with nice diversity, both between culture and years.

And the presence of Akira has knocked you up so many notches in my book, it's not even funny...

My $0.02

It looks to me that everyone has a nice collection!

What I want to know is: How long did it take Max and Chris to type that list?!

Sean,
We did not type it we just output it from DVD Profiler. :)
John,
The problem for us is dealers. The other night I am walking in a bad section of town and I hear...
Pssst
Hey Buddy, You looking for DVDs.
I said no not really.
He said don't like to me and can tell you are hooked by the bags under your eyes.
So I quickly looked around for cops and said "OK, What you Got?"
Next thing you know I am on my way home to watch 5 more DVDs and I feel so depressed when they are over.
Max
