Mr. Lime, how about one of the great pre-code films of all time, LOOKING FOR TROUBLE with Spencer Tracy and Jack Oakie? Fox holds the rights for this 20th Century picture from 1934 and they have good film elements on it. This one's got everything and Lord knows WB does well with selling their pre-code titles on disc.

Sorry, not with KL.

Pre-Code Fox films - a good idea!

I would suggest, among other titles, Quick Millions (1931), starring Spencer Tracy and Sally Eilers (Borzage´s Bad Girl), plus George Raft in a supporting part,, and Blood Money (1933), starring George Bancroft and Judith Anderson.

Both directed by Rowland V. Brown. Don´t know how high his profile is among today´s lovers of old films, but if you look in older reference books about cinema, he´s a kind of cult figure, largely because of these two films. Could be a fine double feature. He also made a film for RKO, Hell´s Highway.

Neither is this.

Hey MisterLime

Sorry if this has been asked before, but is there any possibility Kino will be putting out Jacques Deray's THE OUTSIDE MAN on Blu-ray... hopefully with both the French and American cuts?

Thanks!

Sorry, but no. The French cut rights are with a French studio, the film needs to remastered and the only rights available are the Blu-ray rights - out on DVD from MGM MOD.

Quick Millions and Blood Money are memorable films, particularly the latter with its closing scene. redolent of sadomasochism. I'd love to see them again.
I saw Looking for Trouble 40 years ago and will probably see it again Labor Day weekend.

Yes, we're running LOOKING FOR TROUBLE in 35mm at Cinecon in Hollywood this Labor Day weekend. It goes over like gangbusters with a good audience.

All of the titles you mentioned would make great Blu-rays. Hopefully Kino (or some other label) will get to them someday!

Hello Mr. Lime!

Any plans to release Joseph Losey´s Eve (both cuts) on Blu?

The 119 min. cut on the DVD, the one with the ingrained Swedish and Finnish subtitles (right?), received further restoration work quite a few years ago, done by EYE Institute/Netherlands Filmmuseum in The Netherlands. It now runs about 128 mins.. Shown at the London Film Festival in 2007. There has been very litte publicity about it.
