Hollywood must feel these gothic horror types play well around holidays. Bram Stoker's Dracula came out around Thanksgiving in 1992. Mary Shelley's Frankenstein in November 1994. Frankenstein (1931) also around Thanksgiving 1931.

I would have thought October/Halloween to be the natural release window for gothic horror fare. I guess that's why I don't work in studio marketing.
