Compare the area of activity to the size of the entire state of Florida...OMG...

I have a friend, a doctor (doing a 2nd-year residency at Ochsner), who just evactuated to Houston last night. She, along with many other doctors, was hanging in and helping with the efforts to evacuate their most critical patients, before attempting to get out themselves.

P.S. - I know that one some Katrina threads have been closed for various reasons. I hope that creating this one isn't a major faux pas. If so, my apologies.

Fortunately, the house my mother grew up in remains pretty much untouched. The family cemetary is under water, but it looks like it's better than it could be.

The images at Google Maps will be available in Google Earth tomorrow, apparently. Probably better rez.
