There was a nice article in today's New York Times today about forthcoming upgrades available for Tivo Series 2 boxes. Read the article, but you'll have to login (free registration) first.
Nice article, thanks for the link.
These stories about "Tomorrow's TiVos" are always funny to me. Yes, this is the legit way to offer additional services to the maintream public.
However, if head over to the Tivo Community Web Site you've been able to do this type of thing for a while now.
Yes, it voids your warranty, but Series *1* TiVos are easily upgradable. You can add ethernet support to extract recordings, add additional HD recording capacity, update your TiVo remotely, etc. All today. Many times, it's the same knowledge level as uprading your PC.
I'm really against buying upgrade "kits" when the solutions provided at the tivo forum save you a lot of $$$, and are easy to impliment. It's worth checking into if you have a Series 1 TiVo.
