That's good advice. Also, consider a Denon AVR-2802 if it's just for a couple of months. The 2802 will only offer 6 channels of amplification vs. 7, but the price should be less.

Actually, I just saw an "open box" or demo Denon AVR-2802 at a dealer a few days back for only $350.00. Such a bargain.

After doing some fairly heavy reading at AVS regarding DPLIIx, I've decided to go with the Denon 3805/2805 as my pre/pro. I didn't realize that DPLIIx could be applied to 5.1 and 6.1 discrete tracks to create a matrixed set of side and rear surrounds ("7.1"). This is very similar to Logic 7. At the same time I won't be locked out of DVD-A/SACD, where the older Lexicon units are due to lack of 5.1 inputs.

I am working hard this summer (I'm on summer break from college, but work year-round), and if all goes well, I might pick up a 2805. See if I cam get a good deal (I do want to get it authorized)

A Denon 2805??? Wow, it's been awhile since I've kept up with the latest in hardware! Seems like it was just a couple years ago that I got my 2801...

That's weird...most people should have it in stock by now, we've had it since last week.

I checked the local Hooper's today here in Birmingham, Alabama. They said it would be in stock here "Sometime this month". Can't wait!!! I've been researching receivers for months and have finally decided on the Denon.

The main differences between the 2805 and the 3805:

* 4 independent power supplies in the 3805 vs. 2.

* Dynamic Discrete Surround circuit in the 3805.

* HDCD in the 3805

* 24/96 DACs in the 2805. 24/192 DACs in the 3805.

* Denon Link in the 3805, not the 2805.

* Selectable muting in the 3805, not the 2805.

* 3805 is 8 pounds heavier.

* 120 W/ch in the 3805. 100 W/ch in the 2805

* Arguably a better remote control for 2805

There is a PDF comparison chart at Denon's site.
